It all started with love…

Who doesn’t love a good love story…read on to see how this fairy tail got started

Who doesn’t love a great story with a happy ending?  We recently visited The Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa and Resort and found just that…a wonderful love story.  First, we are not easily impressed, but as we rolled up through the security gate to the stately reception area themed with immense statues, certainly got our attention.  Warm Bahamian smiles greeted us from the moment we arrived including the porters to everyone we met while we were there.

As we wandered around the 404-room property, we saw no lack to any detail.  Samara Johnson welcomed us and was kind enough to give us a comprehensive tour.  A 2-year veteran, Samara was so knowledgeable about the property it would be easily assumed she had been there her whole career.  Sharing there are actually 30 categories of rooms, each with their own particular features that it makes it hard to decide.  It is important to note that while many cruise lines tout their own private island, the Sandals Royal Bahamian is the only resort in the Caribbean to have a private island offshore of the property with water taxi service all day long.  Check in is nothing short of spectacular being presented with champagne and an iPad for use during the stay.  This allows instant connection to concierge services and event calendars at any time.

Oh, about that love story.  It seems that one of the most romantic stories of the twentieth century was the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.  Their well-documented marriage covered in the media and books hinged on the fact Kind Edward VII abdicated the throne of England to marry an American divorcée, Wallis Simpson.  He always wanted the best for his betrothed, and built a small getaway on the island of Nassau, away from the busy city.  A favorite for royals and notables alike, the aqua and blue Caribbean waters certainly have a way of casting spells on visitors.  Later Sandals was fortunate and built the current resort, but still pays homage to the royals in a mini-museum testifying its roots.
